Admittedly, this review of Trollbeads Limited Edition Aurora is nearly a year after its release, however it was only a couple of days ago that I finally managed to add one to my own collection!
When they were first released, I was initially deterred somewhat by the price, largely because I was unsure of how much wear I would get from the bangle. Having tiny wrists, I was concerned that the bangle style would not suit me. Anyway, to cut a long story short, by the time I decided to take the plunge, I could not find any in the UK.
After some hunting, I contacted Bead Sensation, who are located in The Netherlands. I spoke with a lovely lady called Carmen, who said that she had one really nice dark one, which she was tempted to have for herself, but that I could have! Now initially, I was looking for a paler version, but on seeing the images she sent, there looked something very special about this one! And I was right!
As you can see from the photos, one side displays a beautiful electric blue hue, one side radiates deep warm amber and deep purple shades, and another side shows vivid purple with undertones of magenta. This bead looks very different depending how it catches the light, but never falters from being stunning! Even these photos do not do it true justice.
The side profile shows how the colour is layered around the core:
Here is the Aurora bead on the bangle with a couple of Aurora Flowers, Daisy of April and Buckthorn of May (all from the Autumn 2013 collection).
And here with a couple of Faceted Aurora from the ‘Stories of You’ Limited Edition starter set.
Finally, here is the Aurora styled on a Pearl Fantasy Necklace with Amethyst, Golden Trace, Kaleidoscope and Chrysanthemum of November.
For avid Trollbeads collectors, I strongly recommend you to take a look at Bead Sensation’s website (www.beadsensation.com). They have a brilliant section on Limited Edition’s going back to the 30th Anniversary Bracelet in 2006! Their EncycloBEADia is definitely worth a look.
And as for the bangle … well let’s just say that I am pleasantly surprised and I can see it getting a lot of wear 🙂
Thanks again to Carmen for my treasured Aurora!
