Inspiration – ‘World Prematurity Day’

In this Trollbeads blog post, I have put together a bracelet to mark ‘World Prematurity Day’.

November 17th 2014 is World Prematurity Day, where organisations around the globe join together to raise awareness of babies born too soon.

Purple is the colour used to represent Prematurity, and is the basis for this bracelet.

This year 15 million babies will be born prematurely around the world, 60,000 here in the UK. This is cause close to my heart as all of my four children were born prematurely, and I am currently expecting another baby that is also expected to be early.

The care and compassion given by neonatal nurses within Special Care Baby Units / Neonatal Intensive Care Units can never be underestimated. The ongoing work of charities such as Bliss and the medical research within this field is invaluable, and I myself have benefited from treatments.

In the centre of the bracelet is the new ‘Hope Facet’ from this years Fall collection. For the tiniest of babies, ‘hope’ is all that the parents can do.

I have included the ‘Lavender Facet’ and ‘Ruby Rock’, which are beads from the last two years Mother’s Day releases. ‘Chrysanthemum of November’ marks World Prematurity Awareness month.

The silver hearts on the bracelet represent unconditional love, whilst ‘Angel Feathers’ and ‘Heaven’s Garden’ are included as a reminder for those babies that sadly do not survive.

Finally, a little Troll ‘Fairy’ at each end of the bracelet is there to keep watch.

Other beads that I would have included if I had them would have been ‘Maternity’, ‘Paternity’, ‘Fatih Hope & Charity’ and ‘Shooting Stars’ (to make a wish upon).  ‘Guardian Angel’ with a ‘Hope Facet’ either side would have also made a fitting necklace.

This is just one reason why I love Trollbeads, you can wear your heart on your wrist! One bracelet can speak a thousand words!
