Trollbeads ‘Be My Valentine’ Review

Further to my previous article with details of this release, I am now able to give a full review after seeing the bead for myself. Firstly, credit and thanks must go to Joseph Welch Jewellers (please see my Trollbeads Retailers page for contact details) for supplying me with a number of these beads to compare.

I must admit, when I first saw pictures of this release, it was not something than initially captured me. I felt that the stock images made the bead appear quite vivid, which is the opposite of my normal preference for glass beads. Once I found out that the hearts floating inside the bead were copper, I became inquisitive as to what these beads would actually be like.

On seeing the beads in person, I can honestly say I was actually surprised at how nice they were. Even more so, when multiples of the bead are combined on a bracelet it gives a very striking effect. Of the beads provided to me, 3 were paler versions and 3 were darker versions. In the images below I have used the beads to create a bracelet from each version. Firstly the darker versions ….

And secondly the lighter versions …

As you can see from the images, the beads range from deep rich purple and magenta hues, to paler beads with an amber or blue glow to them. The picture below shows the beads side on. The bead on the left is a paler version, and the bead on the right a darker version. You can see that the intensity of colour around the core varies. This is also a great image to show how the hearts ‘float’ within the bead.

Converted to the beauty of this bead, I have teamed it with a couple of the Month Flowers from the Fall 2013 release to create a simple and elegant necklace, fit for Valentines Day or any day!

Trollbeads Valentines Day 2014 ‘Be My Valentine’

The glass bead colouring  is reminiscent of the aurora beads from the Fall 2013 release.  At the surface of the bead float four red hearts, which are in fact copper (copper being the metal of love). The stock images definitely give a red hue to the hearts but apparently the colour of the hearts can appear red, pink, orange or coral; depending on how the light reflects on the hearts.

The bead will retail at  (£32 / $43 / 39 EUR).

What are your thoughts on this years Valentines release? Will it be on your wish list?
