Trollbeads Copper Collection Review

April 30th saw the release of a brand new Trollbeads collection, in a brand new material – copper!

This is the first time that Trollbeads have ventured into metals other than solid silver or gold (apart from the gold played bangle that was released for Christmas 2013). Perhaps this is on the back of the popularity of the bronze links in the X Jewellery (formerly X by Trollbeads) range. Both copper and bronze have the warm hues that rose gold has to offer. Over recent years, rose gold has become increasingly popular, and copper and bronze give a similar look but with a much more affordable price point.

Trollbeads ‘Copper Collection’  includes the new Copper Bangle, Copper Stoppers and a Copper Bead.

The bangle is available as part of a promotional set which includes the Copper Bangle (£50) , two Copper Stoppers (£8 each) and the glass Seabed bead (£25) at a special price of  £75 for the set. The Copper Bead is available individually (£25).

Here are some live photographs of the collection. I have included images with different beads as some inspiration …

The Copper Bangle, Copper Bead and Copper Stopper all bear the hallmark Cu LAA, and are solid copper as opposed to being copper plated.

Of course, I could not resist trying the bangle out with the bead ‘Be My Valentine’ from last year … The amber shades in the bead core and the copper floating hearts complement the bangle beautifully.

The above photo shows the bangle with the Swiss Mountain Crystal bead from the World Tour series. This picture does not do the combination justice. The contrast between the crisp white and the warm copper is stunning!

The photograph above shows the size difference between the Copper Bead and the Hematite beads. As the Hematite beads do not vary greatly in size this is a good demonstration.

This collection is perfect for the summer. I have bought a couple of coral coloured dresses for the summer and this bangle is the perfect accessory.

I will be stacking this with my silver Trollbeads Bangle over the summer. It looks amazing when you put the Copper Stoppers on the Silver Bangle and the Silver Stoppers on the Copper Bangle, though I forgot to take a photo. It also looks great alongside the silver and bronze X Jewellery  (X by Trollbeads) .

I know a few people will be wondering how well the Copper Bangle will wear, whether it will turn your skins green etc. I intend to do another post on this at a later date once I have worn the collection for a while .

Trollbeads Copper Collection Preview

Today brings news of an exciting new collection for Trollbeads, with the introduction of a new metal to the range.

Trollbeads Copper Collection features a new bangle, bead and stoppers, all in copper. It has a global release date of 30th April, so only a month to wait!

Copper brings the opportunity to achieve a similar warm tone as rose gold, but without the prohibitive price tag. Bronze links have proved very popular in the X Jewellery line, and I wonder if this had some impact on the decision to bring a new metal into Trollbeads standard line.

The Copper Bangle will retail at €60, the Copper Stoppers at €9 and the Copper Bead at €28. (I will update with prices in GBP and USD once I have them).

I cannot wait for this collection to come out. I think the copper stoppers will be a very eye catching contrast when worn on the silver bangle as well.

There is actually already one piece in the current collection that includes a small spot of copper, the bead ‘Symbols’. This bead will complement the new collection beautifully!

People may be curious as to how the copper will wear over time and have concerns over the characteristic green patina caused by oxidization.  Basically, when copper reacts with oxygen in the air, your sweat and skin oils, it oxidizes, which sometimes creates a green layer of copper carbonate, either on your jewellery or your skin. The cleaner you keep copper jewellery the less likely there will be any discoloration  from oxidation. Keeping the pieces dry and giving them a regular polish should be sufficient to avoid this and maintain the lovely warm hue of the metal. So definitely don’t let concerns over this put you off from buying it!
