This post brings the second part of my review of Trollbeads Spring 2015 collection, ‘New Horizons’, and focuses on the Aqua Kit and nautical / sea themed silvers.
My first impression of the Aqua Kitwas glossy and vibrant, conjuring up the image of a tropical desert island with its azure shores. It has a fresh feel that makes you think ahead to summertime, and I envisage it being a focal point when worn with crisp white summer clothing.
Here are some photos of the glass on a nautical themed bracelet…
I absolutely adore the Dodoand Guardian of Treasures, they are sweet without being too ‘cute’. I wasn’t initially taken with the ship, New Horizons, as I envisaged it being quite big; however in fact it is quite dainty and a really nice bead that finishes off the theme perfectly.
Whilst Heart Conch is obviously sea themed, I think it would fit in on any bracelet and is quite versatile. Mermaid Companion is a lovely fish, and whilst I like the way it should sit on a bracelet, it does have a strong tendency to spin due to its tail.
I normally prefer smaller glass beads as opposed to chubby versions, mainly because I have tiny wrists. Whilst the Delicate Kit I received was quite dainty, the Aqua Kit beads were larger. On this occasion I was actually pleased, particularly with the Seabed bead, as I personally think these beads look stunning on a Fantasy Necklace, which lends itself better to slightly larger beads.
Here is how I styled a Fantasy Necklace with some of the new beads and the stunning Flying Free barrel …
The small Spring Leaves silver bead (just above the Green Hematite) really finishes off the composition. The greens are really complementary and they also match really well with Forest Anemones from the Crispy Green Kit already in the range.
There are three of the new barrel shaped silver beads in the collection, Flying Free (birds), Wisest Of Souls (turtle) and Guardian Of The Sea (dolphin).
Whilst they do look nice on a bracelet, I much prefer them on a Fantasy Necklace. Flying Free is my favourite of the three, mainly because it is least restrictive in terms of theme. They are all beautifully detailed though.
I do not yet have the Sea Glow bead, but from what I have heard it glows really well.
In summary of the New HorizonsCollection, I think it is another strong release for Trollbeads. My only criticism is the size of the collection. Whilst a large collection does offer greater potential for something to suit everyone, it can also be somewhat overwhelming for collectors due to the cost, and often leaves them playing ‘catch up’ on previous releases whilst more new releases keep coming.
That being said, we have already seen images of the upcoming Mother’s Day collection and the new ‘Good Luck’ Starter Bracelet for 2015. Again, these are both strong and beautiful releases which I think will appeal to many collectors, both avid collectors and those new to the Trollbeads brand.
Last Friday saw the release of Trollbeads Spring 2015 collection ‘New Horizons’. Images of the collection first appeared in November last year, so it has seemed a long wait for the actual release.
The collection is quite vast, and includes 2 glass kits, 1 glow in the dark glass bead, 4 dyed hematite beads, 23 silvers pieces (beads and pendants), 1 silver lock, 4 rings and 2 new leather bracelets. For this reason I will review the collection over two blogs posts.
This post brings a review of the Delicate Kit, along with some of the nature and abstract themed silvers and the stunningAurora Ring.
Firstly, here are some live photos of the beads arranged together on a bracelet.
The Delicate Kit is definitely my favourite of the two glass kits, and I can see myself getting multiples of the beads over time. My favourite bead has to be the Sea Anemonethough. It features the ‘Aurora style’ colouring, with the addition of delicate pink flowers at the surface. There appears to be most variation in this bead, in the same way as in the Aurora LEbead and the Faceted Aurora from the ‘Stories of You’ starter bracelet. Here are a couple of images showing the variation in this bead …
There are a couple of beads that actually surprised me with their detailing. Firstly, the Guardian of Naturebead. This bead in fact features three faces …
The Dragonfly also has the sweet addition of it holding what looks to be a diamond shape on the underside …
Being a huge fan of the Limited Edition Cherry Blossom Collection from last year, I was really pleased to see the inclusion of the Wild Cherry Lock. The lock feels similar in size and weight to the lock from the Stories of You starter bracelet.
When the first images of the collection appeared, my eyes were drawn to the Jewel Of The Sea. Whilst this piece can be worn on a bracelet, I think it lends itself much better to the Fantasy Necklace. It is a sizeable piece and I expected to see the same price tag as the Night Owl Fantasy Pendant (£95), but was pleased to see the lower price of £65. It is a beautiful piece and looks stunning with the Sea Anemone glass bead … very pretty!
With the Aurora style beads being firm favourites of mine, I was excited to see the preview images of the Aurora Ring. My Faceted Aurora beads are pale, almost opalescent, with hints of green and lilac; and so I asked if possible for a match in the colouring of the ring. I could not be more happy with my example, which is super pretty …
I am pleased not only with the colouring, but also with the amount of colour within the ring, as it virtually fills the glass. I know with the Dromedary (camel on pink glass ball) from last years spring release, people mentioned examples where there was only a small amount of colour which did not fill the glass. I did not have this problem and my Dromedary was also a beautiful example. Therefore, I am either very lucky with my examples or items with this issue are few and far between.
The Hematite stone beads have a lovely glossy metallic sheen to them. There is nothing like them in Trollbeads range already, and so they offer a fresh edge to the collection. They really finish off a bracelet spaced between glass and silvers and just a couple can give a new look to an existing collection / bracelet. I can also envisage a bracelet full of these with just silvers in between looking absolutely stunning.
Comments have been made as to the stock images not being the same as the beads in real life. There are only three beads that I can see this applies to. Most noticeably, the Red Hematite, which is actually more of a purple colour. Personally, I think it actually looks better in real life and I think it will blend in better with more beads than if it were red. The other couple of beads that differ slightly from the stock images are Neptune’s Promise and Tropical Conch. Neptune’s Promise appears to be more of a lavender tone of grey and pinky tone of beige in the stock image, whereas in real life it is a darker grey with a more of a sandy tone of beige. Tropical Conch also has a more pinky tone of brown in the stock image whereas in real life it appears to have more of a grey tone. They are both still lovely beads, and they blend in really nicely with the rest of the kit; so whilst they do differ slightly from the stock images I would not see this as a negative.
In my next post I will review the Aqua Kit and nautical / sea themed beads.
Following on from my post just over a week ago bringing glimpses of Trollbeads Spring 2015 release, this blog post brings full details.
With a release date of 23rd January 2015, this collection focuses on three underlying themes of dreams of far and away places, words of wisdom and expressions of personality.

Trollbeads Guardian of Nature(€42 / £35 / $46)
Trollbeads Wild Cherry(€58 / £50 / $63)
Trollbeads Dodo (€42 / £35 / $46)
A new barrel style bead is introduced in three designs. Due to the size and shape of these I think they will look great on Fantasy Necklaces as well as on bracelets.
Trollbeads Wisest of Souls(€51 / £45 / $56)
Trollbeads Guardian of Sea(€51 / £45 / $56)
Trollbeads Flying Free(€51 / £45 / $56)
Two new pendants continue with the ‘sea’ theme. Jewel of the Sea is similar in style to the Night Owl Fantasy Pendant (from the 2013 People’s Bead Collection) and could be worn on a Fantasy Necklace, standard necklace or bracelet (though may be quite large on the wrist). Dolphins Heart is cored to fit on a standard necklace.
Trollbeads Jewel of the Sea(€80 / £65 / $87)
Trollbeads Dolphins Heart (€80 / £65 / $87)
Another new lock is introduced to complement the Wild Cherry bead. For any of you who indulged in the Cherry Blossom Fantasy Necklace with Emerald earlier this year, this is the perfect lock if you wear it with the Cherry Blossom Splitter as it will finish the piece off beautifully. It looks to be beautifully detailed and textured.
Trollbeads Wild Cherry Lock(€52 / £45 / $57)
Following on from the addition of two new rings in the Christmas 2014 collection, Spring 2015 sees an additional four rings. The aurora beads are favourites in my collection, and so the Aurora Ring really appeals to me. I don’t know whether these will be standard in colour or show the same level of variation as the Faceted Aurora from the Stories of You starter bracelet from 2013. If there is variation, I think I would prefer a pastel version rather than a vibrant one.
Trollbeads Aurora Ring(€83 / £70 / $91)
Trollbeads White Pearl Ring(€83 / £70 / $91)
Trollbeads Grey Pearl Ring(€83 / £70 / $91)
Trollbeads Remember Ring(€214 / £170 / $238)
Finally, two new leather bracelet colours are included: Dark Blue / Light Grey andTurquoise / Plum
Trollbeads Leather Bracelets (€30 / £25 / $33)
So, there you have it, Trollbeads Spring 2015 collection! It certainly appears to be another strong release from Trollbeads and I think that it offers something to suit most tastes. The Hematitestones are definitely a highlight for me, along with the Wild Cherry Lock and Aurora Ring.
Pre-orders are being taken from 29th December for this collection.
Yesterday saw the retailer launch of Trollbeads spectacular Spring 2015 collection, ‘New Horizons’. This collection is set to be released on 23rd January 2015, with pre-orders being taken from 29th December 2014.
This collection focuses on three underlying themes of dreams of far and away places, words of wisdom and expressions of personality. Think of nautical adventures, tropical desert islands and mystical oceans!
This is a relatively large release as the collection consists of two glass kits (‘Aqua Kit’ in turquoise tones and ‘Delicate Kit’ in pink tones) and 21 sterling silver beads.
Two new pendants with sealife themes are being introduced, in addition to a new floral themed lock (those who adored the Cherry Blossom collection will be very happy with this lock!) New colours for the new season … two leather bracelets in Spring fashion colours have been added, and four vibrantly coloured hematite stones bring an entirely new look to the collection with their metallic appearance. This release also sees a new ‘glow in the dark’ bead, similar to Inner Glow and Blizzard but the glass itself is a beautiful turquoise colour.
To complete the collection, four new rings debut. Featuring freshwater pearls (white and grey) and glass (think Aurora!), they add a touch of elegance to the collection, along with a spectacular ring in silver and 18k gold as a reminder not to forget the good times in life. This follows on from the inclusion of two new rings and earrings in the Christmas 2014 release, and I think it is great that Trollbeads are also expanding in this direction. I mentioned in a recent post that I was keen to add more pink to my collection, so I am pleased to see pink glass. I am a huge fan of the Aurora beads and Cherry Blossom Collection that have been released over the last couple of years, so the new lock and glass ring already feature highly on my list of favourites from this release. I will do a follow up post in the near future with full details of the release and stock images, but I hope for now this gives a taste of what is to come in this stunning release!
